Good to know
Your child's first visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that a child see a pediatric dentist within 6 months of the first tooth coming in, or by age one, whichever comes first.
The first visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. It gives your child a chance to meet our doctors in a friendly, non-threatening way. We’ll talk about whether X-rays are needed and answer any questions you have.
During the first exam, the dentist checks every tooth for decay, looks at your child’s bite, and checks the gums, jaws and mouth for any potential problems. One of our hygienists cleans your child’s teeth and checks whether fluoride is needed.
Routine visits. The American Dental Association recommends a check-up and cleaning every six months to prevent cavities and other dental problems. Life gets busy, so book your next visit before you leave. Each appointment can take 45 to 90 minutes, so plan your time accordingly.
Financial info and policies
We’ll make every effort to accommodate your financial needs. The cost of your child’s treatment depends on what’s needed to keep their smile healthy. We always discuss the cost with you before we begin, along with the payment options, so you can make the best decision for your family.
Insurance. Our team helps with insurance claims and paperwork. We work closely with your insurance provider to make the most of your benefits. Read more in Medicaid and insurance, decoded.
